For your SASSA disability grant, a new booking system has been launched to help recipients apply for their disability grants online.
This helpful initiative means that temporary disability grant recipients will not have to physically go into the local SASSA office to book their medical assessments as they will be able to do it online as shown below.
This is good news for disability grant recipients as their lives will be made so much easier by not having to go queue for ages at their local branches just to submit their temporary grant applications.

SASSA Disability Grant Payment Date
Payment Dates For April 2021
The disability grant payment dates, released by SASSA for April 2021, are below;
- Older Person’s Grants will be paid from 6 April 2021 (Including all other grants that are linked to older person’s grants)
- Disability Grants will be paid from 7 April 2021 including any grant linked to these accounts
- All other grants will be paid from 8 April 2021
Who Qualifies For a Disability Grant
Below are the SASSA requirements for disability grant;
- You must be a South African citizen (or a refugee).
- You need to be a South African resident.
- You should be 18 to 59 years of age.
- You will have to submit a medical assessment report as proof that you’re living with a permanent or severe disability.
- The medical assessment (above) must not be older than 3 months at date of application.
- Together with your spouse, you need to meet the requirements of the means test.
- You cannot be cared for in a State Institution and claim this disability grant.
- You cannot be receiving another social grant as well as apply for this one.
